Thank you for sharing. Really the best tidal power explanation I have come across. A great analysis of the gap between a great idea and engineering reality in the very real world. The oceans are a tough mistress.
Enjoyed the article, check out Inyanga Marine Energy. 20mw allocated for the new Morlais field off the coast of Anglesey. Lower LCoE etc. stephen@novazure.tech
Very interesting article for engineering nerds 🙂 not that it would ever be simple to calculate, but I do wonder how long it would take such a generating system to move into surplus from an energy perspective: BoOE out versus BoOE in.
Can we just shoot for fusion power, and stop chopping up fish and birds. nuclear is way better than is was 50 years ago, We have wolf creek here in KS and no Chernobyl so far, just other state eyeballing our power grid. If you want water power Dam up the Grand canyon, or put geothermal taps in Yellowstone, easy to maintain. The easy way is less people,
The next Bio-weapons lab leak might fix that problem

Thanks! I'm glad you liked it.

Thanks! I'll take a look.
Happy to chat
Nice article. Strangford lough where sea gen was is in Northern Ireland, not Scotland.
